Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market is celebrating Viva!! Fiesta Mendez in honor of the 71-year anniversary of the landmark OC school desegregation case Mendez v. Westminster on Saturday, October 14, the final day of Hispanic Heritage Month. Emmy-winning Mendez documentary filmmaker Sandra Robbie will be at the farmer’s market to share information about this important case.
In addition, local music sensations, The Colony Boys, will be making their farmer’s market debut! The Colony Boys are a group of high school students based in Anaheim who all share a love of early rock & rockabilly and have had the good fortune to play with incredible musicians all over Southern California. Come spend your morning with us at the market on Saturday October 14th and learn about our Orange County history!
“The Mendez story has the power to move us closer to being the nation where our children will not be judged by the color of their skin, or the person they love, or the family they come from, or the pronoun they use, or the religion they practice, or the inflection of their accent, or the money in their wallet, or their different ability. Mendez v. Westminster: for all the children…and for all of us.”
