An extension of Orange Home Grown projects, this collection of seasonal recipes and information for creating an abundant kitchen garden was compiled to promote even more appreciation for the food we eat.
The Saturday OHG Farmer's & Artisans Market was started in May of 2011 and has been operated and managed by Orange Home Grown (OHG) Foundation ever since. OHG is a healthy food-based farmer's market and puts priority on certified farmers and food artisans who grow and produce their food with transparency and integrity. Live music, the OHG Kid’s Club, yoga classes, cooking demos, pet-sitting (Park Your Paws), market tours, EBT/Market Match & food trucks make our market a must-visit Saturday spot for the whole community.
The farmer's market operates every Saturday rain-or-shine from 9am to 1pm. It is located at 303 W. Palm Ave. in Old Towne Orange.
The farmer's market location is generously donated by Chapman University. We are grateful for our community partnerships and appreciate all the support from the City of Orange, local businesses, partnered non-profit organizations, neighbors and friends. It takes a village!
Do NOT come to the farmer's market if you have a fever or feel ill. Please help to maintain a 6' distance from your neighbors. Masks are encouraged. No dogs allowed in the market area due to Orange County Health Code regulations. Only registered service dogs are allowed within the farmer's market area.
The purpose of the OHG Education Farm is to provide urban farming education around our local food system. These days, more of us are seeking to have input in how our food is grown, how it is treated after being harvested, and how it moves from one place to another. This community urban farm is a way to increase access to education around locally grown food, and a way of reintroducing to the public the many aspects of food that we have lost as a culture. Fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs that are grown on this space are given to volunteers, local neighbors, community members in need, and distributed through a seasonal "pay-what-you-can" farm stand to ensure locally grown food is available to our community.
The OHG Education Farm location is generously donated by Chapman University. Its purpose is urban farming education and anyone in the community is invited to join us on Fridays from 9am to 11am to volunteer.
Due to COVID, we suggest volunteers cover their nose and mouth when a social distance of 6' cannot be maintained. Do NOT come to the education farm if you have a fever or feel ill. Please help to maintain a 6' distance from your neighbors. Please bring your own refillable water bottle and wear close toed shoes.
