The next stop on our artisan tour took us to 4th Street Market in Santa Ana to visit the certified kitchen bless-ed booch uses to make their incredibly tasty kombucha!
Christy and Julia, owners of the small bath artisan kombucha business are absolutely lovely! If you haven’t stopped by the Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market to meet them, you need to! Starting their business as recently as August 2015, bless-ed booch currently can only be found at two southern California farmers’ market locations. We are proud to be one of them!
Christy and Julia both have a background in the restaurant industry. They both have a personal love for kombucha and started home brewing small batches in April 2015. When friends and family started asking if they could purchase their “booch” and when they realized that they were drinking much more than they could produce at home, they realized it was time to take their brewing to the next level and create a business doing what they love.
Christy and Julia take pride in sourcing fair-trade organic cane sugar and Mountain Rose Herbs- Dao Ren Green tea, Darjeeling Black, Pu’erh, Oolong, and One Love teas black tea as the base for their brews. Their “mother” scoby came from our previous market artisan and friends, Katie and Rick from Healthy Cowboy. All of the produce and herbs that are used to flavor the kombucha comes from the farmers market. Julia says that they really make it a priority to source quality, faire-trade and local ingredients whenever possible. We love that bless-ed booch is already collaborating with and supporting local farmers here at the Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market.
According to Julia, starting the day off with 4-8oz of kombucha is the best way to start your day, and the morning is the best time to drink kombucha. Their kombucha contains under .5% alcohol. Bless-ed booch uses glass bottles for their booch, and they have a recycle program, which they provide $1 off your next purchase of kombucha when you return your glass bottle. They also are composting all their scraps from the kombucha ingredients and hope to someday sell their compost.
Their mission is as follows: “Our mission and intention is to make a positive impact on the world by promoting health, wellness and overall happiness for an elevated and expanded consciousness, inspiring people to connect with the environment, each other and their inner selves.”
We are so happy to have bless-ed booch participating in the Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market and we hope you will stop by to give their booch a taste. As a reminder, they use seasonal ingredients and change their flavors based on what is available, so they will be sure to always have something new!
