Did you know that the OHG Farmers & Artisans Market accepts CalFresh and offers the Market Match program? We believe that everyone should have access to fresh, local food, so we make the effort to support our community.
What is CalFresh?
CalFresh is California’s food stamps program, which is available to any qualifying California resident. Given the current economic climate, now more families are eligible than ever before. The application only takes about 10 minutes, and you will receive an EBT card within 30 days if you are approved. The EBT card works at participating farmers markets and stores that sell food. You can find the application and more information at https://www.getcalfresh.org
What is Market Match?
Market Match is a program that encourages purchases of local produce by providing FREE money when you use your EBT card at participating farmer’s markets. When you use your EBT card at the OHG Farmers & Artisans Market, you will also receive additional funds (up to $10 for FREE) that can be spent on fruits and veggies. You can read more about the history of the program at https://marketmatch.org
How to Use CalFresh and Market Match at the OHG Farmers Market
When you come to the OHG Farmers & Artisans Market, stop by the information booth (you’ll find us under the orange tent). One of our market managers will gladly process your transaction. All you have to do is bring your EBT card and let us know how much money you want to use from your CalFresh account. You will be provided with tokens that you can give to the vendors to purchase your items. Through the Market Match program, when you use your EBT card with OHG, we will give you up to an additional $10 worth of tokens that can be spent on fruits and veggies when you pull out $10 or more in EBT funds.
