Orange Yard Sign Project

With Love for our Community

These last few months have been a struggle for so many. Our hearts go out to everyone who has experienced sickness, inequality, hatred, fear, and racism. We want to work together to create a world of equality, kindness, compassion, and love.

Our #orangestrong yard sign project was an example of a way our local community came together during a time of uncertainty to spread messages of hope, strength, compassion, and inclusion. Today, we are so proud to share, that in partnership with the Community Foundation of Orange (CFO), our two organizations were able to raise $31,000 to purchase over 14,000 pounds of locally grown nutrient-dense food. The purchase of seasonal fruits, nuts, vegetables, grains, cheese, and honey supported small family farms here in Southern California that participate in the Saturday Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market. This quality food was then donated to Waste Not OC Coalition who in turn took this food and created over 10,000 meals to feed families in need throughout Orange County.

This collaborative fundraiser effort was nothing short of inspirational! Thank you to all the community members who reached out to lend a hand during this COVID quarantine time. The volunteers who cut, painted, assembled, and delivered signs contributed greatly to the success of this project. We want to thank everyone who purchased a sign and who donated to this community-building effort. Thank you for your inspirational messages.

Echoing Maria Shriver’s words “see yourself as an Architect of Change so that we can work together to create a more caring, conscious, collaborative, and compassionate society.” This is our challenge to you. We hope this project will be an example to other communities looking for ways to bring their residents and surrounding cities together during times of challenge.
